Ancient Paths - Spiritual Warfare
satan’s deceptions and distractions many times come not all at once but rather little by little…otherwise they would be too obvious…a little slumber, a little folding of the hands. Like Dorothy in the field of poppies, carried
away by the sweet aroma and outward beauty that soon was all around her…we can, in the same way, be led little by little from the Lord and move closer and closer to the world…until one day we wake up and find ourselves in a place we never thought
we would ever be.
Don’t put too much stake in this world, don’t wrap your life up with this world…it is just a passing phase. The devil has many enticements, he can make something appear more pleasing than it really is to try and get us to transgress
God’s commandments…remember the garden.
Can you imagine being in France, Italy or Germany in WWII or Vietnam with bombs and artilary shells exploding all around and just going about your life as if nothing was out of the ordinary…oblivious to the danger all around. There are
stories of people that lived just like that during times of war, it was business as usual…they became hardened to the death and destruction all around them…the senses being dulled by the trauma of war.
A 66-year-old man was mauled to death by his pet tiger several yrs ago after going into its cage to feed it. Norman Buwalda of Ontario Canada was found dead in his tiger's cage Sunday when a family member arrived at his house.
2 things – the tiger remembered he was a tiger and tigers have fangs, razor sharp claws, strong and powerful – secondly, the man forgot the tiger was a tiger…and tigers kill.
The devil is always on the prowl…he never sleeps…his passion is to steal, kill and destroy. He is mad with jealousy, and hatred of God’s people. Especially in these last days because he knows his time is very short. He
is cunning and merciless, but he is a coward because he preys upon the weak, and the helpless. The scripture says he is “as” a roaring lion. What do lions do? They try to put terror in the hearts of their prey…to paralyze
them with fear before he attacks. He is a deceiver, a bully, he has no power over God’s people...his game is to try and get us to self-destruct.
Phil 4:8 – says whatsever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report…if there be any virtue, if there be any praise…think on these things – why…”as a man thinketh so is he”.
We are what we think!
Secondly, Obedience to the Lord is one of the most effective ways of guarding ourselves against the enemy’s attacks on our lives! …it keeps us from self condemnation and maintains that right relationship with God…God’s
hand is not shortened that it can not save…but our iniquities have separated us from Him!
He can only see how we respond…and the more mature we become in the Lord the more intricate and subtle his deceptions become.
King James Version (KJV)
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances
that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it
The greatest endeavor in our lives is this: that we find truth, and never let it go, that we live it to the best of our abilities…and defend it with all the power that God gives to us…we are defenders of the Truth!
Proverbs 23:23 Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding. 2
John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. Ps 31:5, Ps 86;11, John 14:6…
King James Version (KJV)
17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather
rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the
unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
