Revelation 18 King James Version (KJV)
18 "And after these
things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying,
Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.
6 Reward her even as she rewarded you,
and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double.
7 How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously,
so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
8 Therefore shall her plagues come in one
day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
9 And the kings of the earth, who have
committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning,
10 Standing afar off for
the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come."
There is a great mystery in chapters 17 - 18 of the book of Revelation. Through the
years many teachers of prophecy have provided a variety of insights into the meaning of these chapters. One of these interpretations came from a minister named David Wilkerson in his book entitled "Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth". I read this
book in the late 80s and it made a profound impact not only on the way I viewed these scriptures but also on the way I viewed our great nation, the United States of America.
Up until that time I'd heard for years
that America was no where to be found in prophecy or in the Bible for that matter. I'd always wondered how such an influential "latter day" country could escape even being mentioned in the scripture. David Wilkerson's vision described in this book
made so much sense then and is even clearer now with all that has happened in this nation since then. I encourage you to open your heart to what I'm about to convey regarding America and its ultimate destiny in God's prophetic plan for mankind.
The following are exerpts from Bro. Wilkerson's "Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth" that summarize the vision of America I believe the Lord revealed to him -
"America is going to be destroyed by fire! Sudden destruction is coming and few will escape. Unexpectedly, and in one hour, a hydrogen (nuclear) holocaust will engulf America-and this nation will be no more.
It is because America has sinned against the greatest light. Other nations are just as sinful, but none are as flooded with gospel light as ours. God is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backslidings, its murdering
of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality and sadomasochism, its corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its lukewarmness toward Christ, its rampant divorce and adultery, its lewd pornography, its child molestations, its cheatings, its robbings,
its dirty movies, and its occult practices. In one hour it will all be over. To the natural mind it is insanity to come against a prosperous, powerful nation and cry out, It's all over! Judgment is at the door! Our days are numbered."
I agree with Bro. Wilkerson when he says - "modern Babylon is present-day America, including its corrupt society and its whorish church system. No other nation on earth fits the description in Revelation 18 but America,
the world's biggest fornicator with the merchants of all nations."
Many believers may not agree with this opinion which I can fully understand, no one wants to believe that something so horrific will soon happen to
one's children, home and nation. It makes my heart ache to think the unthinkable. Most see America as a place of hope and the great bastion of liberty and freedom in the world. A place that has done much good in this world for the
cause of democracy and Christianity. But like Hollywood there is an unseen reality behind the facade of religiousity and humaneness. There is more to America's seemingly noble beginnings and purpose than meets the eye.
This nation's symbols reveal the true spirit behind the creation of America and its eventual purpose in Biblical prophecy. The "all-seeing eye" of Horus on our dollar bills, the Washington Obelisk (Monument), the Statue of Liberty
(Lady Liberty) in the NY harbor with its 7-rayed crown - these all point to a darker reality behind the "City on the Hill", this place we call America. The same time that missionaries are going out to evangelize in other nations, American
pornography is also pouring into these same nations. The same time America's politicians are warning about Russian interferance and adversarial moves against this nation, Uranian (which can be used to make nuclear bombs) is being sold by Americans to
our adversary the Russians. American merchants are not interested in protecting this nation's people, they are interested in making the highest profit they can. The same America that has passed laws against being cruel to animals has
allowed millions of human babies to be aborted (murdered). The same nation that places "In God we Trust" on its coinage etc. has taken prayer to that same God out of the schools, and is in the process of removing everything Christian (i.e. the 10 Commandments)
from every public place.
As our previous President stated (prophetically) "this is no longer a Christian nation". Without really understanding the prophetic ramifications of his statement, he,
in effect, proclaimed the new identity that America as a nation has become. As Revelation 18 says - "and has become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." In our leaders'
pursuit of tolerance for all, they have effectively opened the flood gates (broken down the walls) to allow every form of spirit, doctrine and lifestyle to invade this country. Proverbs 25:28 says - "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like
a city that is broken down, and without walls." Isaiah 9:16 says - "For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed."
A nation's people will all suffer for the mistakes of misguided, un-Godly leadership. All the more reason we need to pray for our nation's leaders.
As Rabbi Jonathan Cahn says in his book the "Harbinger" the
9/11 attack was a sign that God had removed this nation's hedge of protection...in other words, because we allowed evil to freely enter this nation the Lord's blessing and protection has begun to be removed. Why?...because we have actually
made ourselves like a city without walls...we as a nation have opened ourselves up to every evil spirit and doctrine of devils. As the old saying goes, "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything."
Someone might ask - "if this is true, what can we do as citizens, as believers"? "If this nation (like the legendary city/country of Atlantis) is in fact destined for total destruction what can we do personally?" The answer to this question
lies only in our relationship with the Lord of all creation. We need to draw closer to Him and to His Word than we've ever been before. He alone is our only hope, refuge and hiding place! Revelation 3:10-11 says -
10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
With the election of Donald Trump, I believe
we've been given a window of opportunity to repent and return to God's principles, to reach out to our communities and spread the Words and hope of our Messiah Yeshua (Jesus). The line between progressive liberalism and conservatism in this
country is becoming more and more apparent...and extreme. We are a nation divided, on the precipice of one of the greatest disasters the world has ever seen. When the spirit of liberalism and moral compromise again gains control over
this nation the end will come with a swiftness that will leave the rest of the world in awe.
The following are links that speak of America as the Babyon of the last days. A prayer - "Lord help us
to find that place of refuge and rest that can only be found in You. In these last of the last days, when all the world is crumbling around us, Father help us to make our stand in You, on the foundation of your truth. In Yeshua's
Name we pray!"
